Respected Seniors & My Dear Colleagues

You will be glad to know that recently we have successfully hosted a 5 days and 4 nights Residential course on IFRS at Gangtok. I must congratulate the entire team of Siliguri branch for their sincere effort to make this event most vibrant and lively. This residential course is the first of this kind hosted by any branch of EIRC or even by EIRC. Presence of His Excellency of Sikkim Sri Balmiki Prasad Singh as a Chief Guest and Miss Neru Sewa, Minister of Commerce and Trade of Sikkim as a Guest of Honour, in the inaugural session of the Residential course was made the program a notable one. His Excellency, Sri Balmiki Prasad Singh with his unique and intellectual inaugural speech kept the audience spell bound. Presence of the delegates from all parts and regions of the country as well as presence of one international delegate from Dubai made the Residential course an International program in true sense. I also like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt and warm greetings to EIRC and CMII of ICAI for giving us this opportunity to host this program. It was really an enjoyable and remarkable event in the history of our branch. Photographs of the entire program are already being hosted in our website.

In May we have organized an Industrial Tour for the students at JOYPUR TEA ESTATE. A full day industrial tour in the lavish green tea estate was really a remarkable tour for all 50 participants. I like to extent my heartfelt thanks to the members of Siliguri branch of ICASA for their sincere effort in organizing this Industrial tour.

2010 is going to be a challenging year for the entire CA fraternity. Implementation of Income Tax Code, Proposed GST Act and Road map for IFRS are the main areas of concern for the members for the years to come. To cope up the challenges and to keep the members updated in these areas we are planning to organize several programs, workshops in the coming months. In addition we will also organize few other programs which will include – Inauguration of renovated hall room, CA Day celebration on 1st July, Visiting Old Age Home, Plantation- to make the Society Green, CA Pariwar Milan Mela, a full day Students Seminar and a full day workshop on Indirect Taxes and GST.
